About Firebrand Barrel-Aged Baltic Porter

Introducing Firebrand, the rebel of Baltic Porters by Prairie Dog Brewing. Born as Desperate Times, our 100th batch, it transformed into Firebrand after a rendezvous with Tennessee Whiskey barrels for a 5-month wild affair. Bottled in 2020, this 10.3% ABV powerhouse is no ordinary brew; it’s an elixir aged to perfection, now emerging from our cellars.

What makes Firebrand truly extraordinary? Picture this: a Baltic Porter with a swagger, aged in Tennessee Whiskey barrels, embracing its chocolatey depths and whiskey allure. This beer is a bonfire of flavors, from rich malty sweetness to the subtle dance of oak and whiskey. It’s a decadent journey that beckons you to linger, sip by sip.

But what sets a Baltic Porter apart from its traditional, ale-fermented counterpart? It’s the lager yeast, adding a touch of smoothness and sweetness. Firebrand takes this to the next level, offering a lagered and full-bodied experience, deceptively easy to drink despite its 10.3% ABV.

We’ve sourced the finest ingredients from Alberta’s own Origin Malting and Red Shed Malting. Pilsner and Munich malts set the stage, while chocolate malt from Red Shed adds the decadence that makes Firebrand a true original. Aged in Tennessee Whiskey barrels, each sip carries a tale of rebellion and finesse.

Now, why Firebrand? Because it’s not just a beer; it’s a statement. This isn’t your everyday Baltic Porter; this is an experience. With notes of chocolate, roast, and a dash of Tennessee Whiskey, it’s a fiesta for your taste buds. Released as a limited edition in 2020, we’ve tucked away some bottles, letting time work its magic.

Firebrand is the wild child of our barrel-aging program, a one-off creation that defies the ordinary. It’s for those who appreciate the rebellious spirit in their glass, for those who know that every sip is a celebration of craft, patience, and the audacity to be different.

So, if you’re ready to embark on a journey where Baltic Porter meets Tennessee Whiskey in a wild dance of flavors, Firebrand awaits. Let the rebellion begin, one bottle at a time.
